What Is A Vegan Vegetarian?

A lot of people are confused when the vegetarian topic is brought up. They don’t know that there are different types of vegetarians.

Are All Vegetarians Vegan?

All vegans are vegetarians, but not all vegetarians are vegans.

Some vegetarians eat cheese and eggs. Some eat fish.

A vegan does not eat anything animal derived. Their whole diet is composed of plants.

Some people think it is very strict. I really don’t think of it that way. I enjoy the large variety of different plant sources available.

If people just knew how great the food choices really are, I am sure they would change their mind about it being so limited.

So if someone should ask you what is a vegan vegetarian, simply state that they are vegetarians that do not eat dairy, eggs, meat or fish.

And I know what the next question will be, because I have been asked it so many times. “What do you eat then”?

No Longer Vegan!

Some transitional vegans eat a lot of fake meats. I have tried some in the past, and they do taste pretty good.              seitan

But that is where it stops. They are really not very good for you.

The more whole food you eat the better. The less processed the better. There is no comparison between unprocessed whole food and man made processed foods.

Your body knows what to do with whole food.

I know some vegans that went back to eating meat, because they felt lousy. A close look at their diet reveals why.

They were living on processed foods, that included chips, vegan cakes, pies, and fake meats. They thought just because it says vegan that it was healthy, not true.

Which Type Of Vegetarian Diet Is Healthier?

When someone says they are a vegan, this only says what they do not eat, not what they do eat.

A vegan could be a junk food eater, such as eating potato chips and deep-fried vegetables all the time, and this is not healthy by a long shot.

There are also many vegan processed foods these days, that in my opinion, are not health promoting.

But getting to the question “Which vegetarian diet is healthier”? If done correctly the science says that the vegan diet composed of whole food plant based meals as close to nature as possible is the most health promoting diet there is.

It has been known to reverse many health conditions, such as the number 1 killer in America; heart disease.

I did a post on this

If this diet is so beneficial that it can reverse such a serious disease, imagine the other benefits that it can do for your body. Aren’t you worth it?

Can I Be A Vegan And Still Drink Milk?

soy milk

Yes you can drink milk, but not animal milk. There are plant based “milks” which are not really milk but are made from nuts, seeds, and grains.

They are very delicious, and can be quite healthy for you. Just be aware they are sometimes over sweetened, and may contain synthetic vitamins.

You can very easily make them yourself, without the unnecessary extras.

  1. Banana milk. Use one frozen banana, and about one cup of water. Blend in a preferably high speed, high quality blender, like a Vitamix
  2. Cashew milk. Use 1.5 cups of raw cashews with 2 cups of water and a sweetener {a date, or maple syrup, or stevia} and then blend. You could add a little Himalayan salt, and or cinnamon and vanilla.
  3. Hemp milk. Use 1 cup of hemp seeds with 2 cups of water, and a natural sweetener.
  4. Almond milk. Use 2 tablespoons of raw almond butter, 2 cups of water and again a natural sweetener and a little salt. Himalayan or low processed sea salt is best.
  5. Greens coconut milk. Fresh coconut water, and baby greens along with a date.

And that’s all there is to it.

These milk recipes were brought to you by Markus Rothkranz.

Try them! They are not only easy to make, but are very healthy for you.
