There Are Many Kinds Of Vegan Lifestyles
You have quite a few questions. But your main one is what is the vegan lifestyle?
The answer is every vegan has their own unique one.
Some vegans are athletes. They make exercise a big part of their life. But not all are athletes. Just as not all meat eaters are athletes. There is not just one kind of vegan lifestyle.
There are also vegan couch potatoes and junk food eaters. You do not want to be like these.
There are some vegans that look like a strong wind could blow them away. These are usually the same ones that will say you can get all the protein you need from a cucumber,
Many vegans do not broadcast that they are. They just quietly eat at work or at the gym. Sometimes it is revealed at social gatherings. Especially when at a restaurant, when you are asking how something is made and if you could get it without the meat.
When I first became vegan years ago, it was not near as popular as it is today. I kept very quiet about it. Most of my coworkers never knew I was one.
If someone asked, I was always more than willing to talk about it.
Vegan Is Much More Mainstream Today
Today there are even vegan restaurants that serve only plant food. There are also vegan friendly restaurants that cater to both. I think it is much more acceptable today.
I used to eat quite frequently at a local Indian Restaurant. I was always asking if they had any vegan food on the buffet.
They finally started carrying more and more selections. One time I went in and one of the owners told me she is now vegan. I don’t know for sure or not, but I like to think I had a little influence.
There seem to be more doctors that are plant based these days, and are more than willing to share their diet experience with their patients. This is very positive news, because they are recommending it to them for their health.
. Many of their patients are improving with the guidance of their doctor. In turn, they share their experiences with their friends and family that may have had the same problems that they had, and now no longer have due to their diet change.
The Food Industry
As the vegan diet became more popular, the food industry got on board. They saw opportunity.
This is definitely a sure sign that this diet is growing in popularity.
The problem is this; highly processed food is not health promoting,
You have to eat food as close to nature as you can. The less processed the better. This is where you will thrive.
Stick with fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, starches, nuts, seeds, beans, and legumes. Also add some of the wonderful spices out there to make fantastic meals. The different combinations are endless. You will not miss animal products after you are on this diet for at least six months, some even sooner. It took me about 3 months. My favorite processed animal foods probably took longer though, because they are addicting.
When I started, I didn’t have much help, but I stuck with it because I knew this diet was health promoting. I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned from them. Now it is second nature to me. I never look back and think about any of the foods I used to consume.
I look forward to each meal, and really appreciate the fact that I am feeding my body a tasty, and health promoting food every time I eat.
If you asked me what is the vegan lifestyle? I would say that it is mainly the food choices that one makes. But a lot of times it effects other areas of one’s life too.
There are some vegans that make sure they do not wear clothes or shoes that came from an animal. Some decide not to use soaps or skin care products that were animal derived.
We all have choices to make in our lifetime, from the food we eat, to the clothes we wear, to the skin and hair products we use.
Sometimes we do not have a choice unfortunately.
But most of the time we do have a choice of what kinds of food we put into our mouth. Some foods contribute to our health, while other foods can cause our health to decline.
I hope that you choose the way of the whole food plant based vegan. With this lifestyle there are many positive health benefits if done correctly.
Any Regrets Becoming Vegan?
Not a one. I love the food, I feel great, I can still do the things I did when I was much younger.
I love life. I look forward to each meal and I look forward to my workouts. I am not fearing older age and every day I count my blessings.
